Dunn School Postdoctoral Research Assistant Position in UK, 2017
A postdoctoral position is available in Dr Ivan Ahelâ€™s group at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, theÂ University of Oxford to study the cellular and physiological function of enzymes involved in the reversal of ADP-ribosylation signalling.International applicants are eligible to apply for this position.
The main focus of the project will be the TARG1 protein, deficiency of which leads to a severe neurodegeneration in humans (Sharifi et al, EMBO J, 2013).
The Dunn School is a world-class biomedical research Department at the University of Oxford. Over 300 scientists from more than 30 countries aim to discover the molecular and cellular mechanisms that underlie human health and disease.
Course Level: Position is available for pursuing postdoctoral programme.
Study Subject: Position is awarded in DNA Repair Mechanisms and Human Disease.
Scholarship Award: Salary of Grade 7: Â£30,738 – Â£37,768 per annum will be awarded to the applicants.
Scholarship can be taken in the UK
Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for this position:
- Hold a relevant Ph.D./DPhil, together with relevant experience in protein biochemistry or cell biology or genetics.
- Experience and expertise, in general, molecular biology techniques and experimentation.
- Experience in cell biology techniques.
- Possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to help develop new research projects within established research programmes
- Previous experience of contributing to publications/presentations and ability to bring new research to publication
- Experience of independently managing a discrete area of a research project
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability form collaborations, prepare research for publication and present at national and international meetings
- First author papers in high-profile scientific journals.
